If you are on the journey of growth or looking for success in life, or even if it is just for your personal development, then changing your mindset can play a powerful role in your outcome. Our mindset is the experience of our lives that develops over time and is influenced by such things as our thoughts, our attitudes towards life, our behaviours, our surroundings, our relationships, and so on. In short, whatever you do with your five senses (sight, sound, or hearing; smell, taste, and touch) that affects your mindset, whether it is happening directly or indirectly, will always influence it. It can be in any area of your life, whether it is personal or professional. Reasons to change your mindset can be anything, but one thing you have to understand is that your mindset is the habits of your life; it can be deep down in your personality. It’s not a problem; it can be changed, but you have to have more dedication and practice. Here we will look into the important points. How to shift your mindset for your better well-being
1. First Step: Recognize
Before you even think about shifting your mindset, how will that happen? You must understand your current state of mind. You have to look for the reason behind this quest. because as you give yourself the reason for your journey to complete, your shifting mindset gets a boost in your result, and to understand the reason, you can ask yourself, for example,: from where is this mindset shifting question coming from? Is it really something I need, or is it just a question of my limiting beliefs? and as you get your answer, you can start connecting with your outcome. For example, this supports my goal, this supports my purpose in life, this supports my aspirations, or it will hold me back, and so on. when you do this you start gaining awareness of your needs and a clear path for your work towards the right destination in your life.
2. Makeover
A mindset shift will start with you when you start transforming your thoughts. Your thoughts are like fuel, and your mind is like an engine, and at this stage of your life, if you are looking for change, then you have to take the driving seat. You cannot leave your vehicle in self-auto mode.
This will start when you start aligning your thoughts with your outcomes. You will have to let go of any limiting beliefs if they come into your path of development. Human thoughts are like beaches that come and go. If you don’t understand the nature of your thoughts, then forget to change your mindset. Here, you have to understand that you cannot do anything with your thoughts. What you can do is just observe, understand, ask questions, get clarification, and then let it go. As you do, you will see the result.
3. Change in Perspective
If you want to shift your mindset, as I said in my early talk, you have to change your limiting beliefs, and in limiting beliefs, your perspective comes. Perspectives are like how you see the world. In perspective, a lot of things can come under your personal point of view, your values, and your assumptions in any situation. It can be anything in every day of your life through your life experiences.
Let’s understand with an example: as you watched some news, you had some information, but another person looked at the same news in another way. Now here are two perspectives coming. We humans work this way: everything is two-faced: happy, sad; I like it, I don’t like it. This is the basic code of our lives, and that’s why changing your perspective becomes very crucial. Because reality can be different from others.
For this, you can start working on your listening skills. Start focusing on what people are saying because shifts in mindset start as you start understanding the perspective of others. This way, you develop awareness of your surroundings. When you are aware, you can ask the right question, and as you do for a certain period of time, you will see changes in your mindset.
4. Embracing Change
Embracing change becomes very important on the journey of shifting your mindset because we humans are very lazy, and when you all of a sudden look for change in life, you will see conflicts in your old routine of your life with new rules of life. You have to go out of your comfort zone to make any changes in your mindset. You have to understand that change is the fundamental principle of growth.
It can be anything for your growth; you have to read, then you are doing it; for your growth, you have to workout for more energy, then you are doing it; you have to work 12 hours a day; whatever your requirements are, you are doing it; and as you start implementing these uncomfortable changes in your life, you will see your result in your mindset.
5. Cultivating Positivity
Cultivating positivity can be a life-changing thing because shifting mindsets takes time, and during this period, your negativity can take over and distract you from your path of growth. A shifting mindset comes with it; you are replacing all the old information in your life with a new one. It means you are reading things, watching things, and understanding things continuously, and in the process, when you don’t see results, your negativity can take over. But here, you have to understand that your growth is taking place behind the scenes; realisation can take time. You have to trust the process, which is why your developing positivity becomes very important for your shifting mindset. Trust yourself, trust the process, and you will see results.
6. Face Your Fears
Fear is the strongest and most corrupted invisible force in human life. I am not saying something totally bad; sometimes your fear plays an important part in your life, but when it comes to your growth, overcoming fear can be your major step. Let’s understand, for example, how fear stops you from shifting your mindset.
For example, suppose you are explaining things and others are able to understand them so well that they give your advice. Why not make your career out of it? Now your fear comes into play, and in your mind’s background, it starts giving you excuses about how you can deal with such a crowd: I don’t have confidence; if you make mistakes, people will laugh at you; and so on.
Here, we have to understand that shifting your mindset or any growth in your life is all about making mistakes and changing your outcome for a second attempt. You cannot do anything in your life on your first attempt. Even when you started taking your first step on our planet, you also made mistakes, and over time, you started learning how to walk.
Overcoming fear should be something like: I am going to attempt, something I will learn, and the next step I will take as per experience. Believe me, your shifting mindset process can take time, but the result when it comes will be just wow.
Final Thought
Shifting your mindset can be a long process; it can be frustrating; it can be doubtful; it can be challenging, but one thing you have to understand and always keep in mind is that you are replacing your old information with a new one. It’s like you are formatting your computer and trying to start with a clean and fast operating system. The same applies to your life here. You are replacing your old experiences with new ones, and as formatting a computer takes time, your growth with new experiences will take time, so keep patience, keep learning, and never stop yourself.
